Behind the scenes with Danae

A quick update for those who keep asking me for more of Danae. I added a special set “behind the scenes” of her at the usual place. You can find the link here.

Where to find more of Danae, Christi and Casey.

Special sets

For those who have asked about any additional photos of Danae, Christi or Casey and didn’t follow this blog in the past, today I’m giving out the link to where you can find a few of the special sets and videos that I didn’t share on this site or flickr.

As you know, I run this site solely on donations from the visitors and any purchases of the special sets, so thank you in advance if you decide to purchase any of them. Also a big thank you to all those who have contributed in some way in the past. Its because of you that this site continues to run. I and the models really appreciate it.

If you don’t purchase anything, that is ok too, continue to visit the site, everyone is welcome. Click on the picture or this link to take you to the pictures and videos. If you would like me to create more sets of these models, let me know and I can work on it, or on a different model. Go have a look, because I’ll only keep this post up for a short while. Have fun! :-)

All photos were taken in a studio settings with either a Nikon or Canon DSLR and are in much higher resolution than what I share on this website. Correction some were taken at home studios as well.

Great rebate for the Nikon D90 with 18-105mm

Nikon Rebates makes Danae happy as well!

An early Sunday morning update to the blog. First, I want to wish everyone a fun and happy Easter Sunday. Second, I want to share one of the lowest prices I’ve seen on a Nikon D90 kit. Amazon.com has the Nikon D90 DX 12.3MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S VR DX Nikkor Zoom Lens for only $1020. And if you’re like me and keep track of camera & lens prices you know that is the lowest price so far for that kit. Nikon’s current rebates are pushing the prices to this low point. This time last year, the kit was well over $1,700, the camera alone was selling for $1400-$1600 without the lens! The Nikon D90 12.3MP Digital SLR Camera (Body Only) has also dropped in price, now only $774!

The Nikon D300 and D700 have also dropped in price. The D700 being a full frame camera is especially a nice camera. I know many of the camera websites are pushing the Nikon D3000 or D5000, but be aware that these camera’s are limited to the type of compatible lenses. For example, the D3000 cannot except any lens without an internal focusing motor, while the D90 will accept both types. I, like most photographers, have several pro lens that like to use with every new camera body we purchase. After all the investment is in the lenses, not the cameras.

The Nikon rebates even make Danae happy! ;-)

Choose the right outfit for your model.

Make sure your model wears the correct skirt!

Have you ever been photographing a person, either outdoors or indoors, and find out that she would look or photograph better in a different outfit? I have and most of the time its my fault for not informing the model or planning ahead to make sure they are wearing the correct type of wardrobe. It happened to me with Danae once.

Here is a screen shot of Danae during a photo shoot we did at a local beach. I had asked her to wear a skirt. I figured it would be a little windy and create peeks as the wind blew up the skirt. Well, the skirt was short and did could “flow” up at times, but the material it was made of was too heavy!

She was wearing a green flower print blouse and dark green skirt. While I was photographing her, I had a friend videotape the session. Click on the screen shot and you can see the short video clip of her trying to make the skirt rise with the wind with no luck. She twists side to side then finally lifts it herself.

We only shot at the beach for a few minutes, then decided to go indoors and continue the photo session.

So Tiger Woods is in trouble, TMZ seems to think so.

Now that I have moved the blog and am about 95% complete, I cant help but notice all the news channels talking about Tiger Woods, his car accident and the alleged affair. But you have to hand it to TMZ.com they seem to have obtained the photos of the accident right away. Are there papparazi photogs in every neighborhood? How did they get them so fast? Crazy.

In the next few days, I will be adding more and more posts to this blog so I hope you will continue to follow my photography posts, pictures and videos. I do them because its is fun, but also to give out some information on basic photographic techniques about cameras, lighting and models. I know there are many, many websites out there that give detailed instruction and dig deeper into camera and studio equipment, other websites focus on shooting models and photoshop techniques. As most of you know, I have not tried to imitate those sites. Here, I like to showcase models/photos  that were taken with cameras and equipment that the average person has at home!

Photography is not a skill reserved only for the rich or professionally skilled. Part-time, retired and hobbyist photographers can enjoy this craft. I didn’t start photography until I was in college, I wish it would have been earlier! Whether you photograph buildings, landscapes or people, I hope you find some enjoyment in reading and following this blog.
