Where to find more of Danae, Christi and Casey.

Special sets

For those who have asked about any additional photos of Danae, Christi or Casey and didn’t follow this blog in the past, today I’m giving out the link to where you can find a few of the special sets and videos that I didn’t share on this site or flickr.

As you know, I run this site solely on donations from the visitors and any purchases of the special sets, so thank you in advance if you decide to purchase any of them. Also a big thank you to all those who have contributed in some way in the past. Its because of you that this site continues to run. I and the models really appreciate it.

If you don’t purchase anything, that is ok too, continue to visit the site, everyone is welcome. Click on the picture or this link to take you to the pictures and videos. If you would like me to create more sets of these models, let me know and I can work on it, or on a different model. Go have a look, because I’ll only keep this post up for a short while. Have fun! :-)

All photos were taken in a studio settings with either a Nikon or Canon DSLR and are in much higher resolution than what I share on this website. Correction some were taken at home studios as well.

World Cup 2010 in South Africa starts!

World Cup 2010 Female Soccer Fan

In a few hours, the largest sporting event in the world will begin in South Africa. Its Wold Cup Soccer time! Its starts tomorrow at 8am eastern and 5am pacific time. With some many more kids in the U.S. playing soccer now, its no wonder ABC and ESPN are now airing all the games. The first one starts tomorrow, Friday June 1oth just after the opening ceremonies, Mexico vs. South Africa! It should be a spectacular event! I’ll be up and early watching it on ESPN.

Then on Saturday on ABC its USA vs England. To see a full schedule of games and times, visit the ESPN World Cup website.

Any soccer fans out there? I know this site gets visits from around the world, so I assume there are many of you out there. According to FIFA, the World Cup Organization, is expecting sever hundred million people to view the opening ceremonies! If I’m not mistaken, I believe the World Cup gets much more viewers than the Summer Olympics and of course any single U.S. Sporting event, even the Super Bowl won’t get as many viewers.

But its understandable, since it is a world wide event. In the last World Cup of 2006, the singer Shakira performed in the opening ceremonies, and she will be doing it again. The Vice President of the U.S. will also be in attendance, along with many other world leaders.

It will be an exciting month of soccer games. I know Christi will be enjoying it! Oh yeah, and on a different sporting event here in the U.S., Go Lakers!

To get everyone hyped up for the games…

What to know when photographing a new model.

Modeling Styles

Christi's first time model shoot.

If you’re a regular visitor of my site, and I hope you are, you know I enjoy different styles of photography. But I am partial to capturing the beauty of a woman! I always say,”photograph what you like and all your photos will be winners!” In my case its the form, curves and softness of the female figure in addition to the expressions she makes while posing. Paying attention to the facial expressions a new model makes is even more important.

Many times a woman’s first artistic nude modeling project is a very stressful event. She probably has gone back and forth for several days making the decision to pursue it. Its important to not overlook her feelings during the shoot. I’ve seen photographers in similar situations get so preoccupied with the lights, cameras and poses that they forget to ask the model how they are doing, if they need anything or offer some type of encouragement! Whenever I work with a new model I try to have the studio lights, my camera, batteries, notes, anything and everything set to where I want it, so when she arrives, I dedicate my attention entirely to her and the shoot.

If I see that she is unsure of something, perhaps a pose or what I am doing, I make sure she understands what I am doing and why. If I make encouraging remarks, I make sure they are professional in nature. Its ok to say “that angle accentuates the curve of your legs very well, that was a great pose idea you had, thanks!” or “your clear complexion and even skin tone are things that set you apart from other models!“. I think its important for the model to know that she is what you expected. Not that she wants you to like her or think she is the most beautiful model in the world, but that she has the features and attitude needed for you to produce great images! This is not the time to give her rude or blatant inappropriate remarks. After all she is in a vulnerable situation and this is when a photographer needs to be as professional as possible. Otherwise, I assure you, the shoot will end very soon.

I prefer to work with someone in a simple test shoot, outdoors or in a studio situation taking head shots or fun photos. Its not until then that I may bring up other types of modeling, like bikini, pinup and lingerie. After all, when doing a full 3-4 hour shoot or a full day shoot, spend money renting out a studio, money on camera equipment and props for the shoot, the last thing you want is for the model to cancel the morning of the shoot because she changed her mind. So meeting her beforehand is usually a must for me, they are less likely to cancel.

When I shot Christi above, I had already met her once before then communicated for several days regarding that shoot. Although she was nervous, the setting I created for her I know made her feel very comfortable. I woke up early that day and setup my studio lights, backdrop, laid out some of the outfits I wanted her to wear and set aside the props for the shoot. I spent 45 minutes before she got there making sure I metered the light correctly, looking over my Nikon camera and seeing if I forgot anything. I had a full check list for the shoot and it was all complete by the time she arrived.

Someone asked for more of Christi, up close and personal.

I recently received a few emails asking for more special sets of Christi. I photographed her last year and only shared a few images. So I decided to create a “special” set of images from that shoot and offer them for a small fee.
It was her first time modeling, and I was lucky enough to convince her to do more. The session with her was done at a home studio with professional studio lights and my black sofa as a prop. But the setting was basic but personal. In fact in the images you will see how up close and personal they are! These photos are not ones I have or plan to share here on the blog or flickr. Plus, they are much larger than the ones I normally share, these are all 2000×1330 as the sample below.

If you enjoy this blog and this model, I encourage you to support it by purchasing this special set of Christi, I’m sure you will not be disappointed! You can pay securely via paypal. The cost is only $12, you can do it by clicking here or feel free to visit my sales page at http://store.payloadz.com/go?id=582939
As long as readers let me know they want these “special” sets then I will continue to offer them.

Life is stressful and photography is my outlet!

Christi model

Christi

Like most people, life can be busy and stressful, and photography is an outlet. For the past 20 years or so, photography has been my release, it allows me to get away from daily life and get my head straight. When I photographed Christi, I recall her telling me this was one of the reasons she wanted to get into modeling. She had never tried any type of modeling but said she needed to stimulate her creative side. Christi is not your typical “model”, she was sort of a serious person but when we started session I began to see a lighter side. The shoot flowed very easily and before I knew it, she was creating her own poses.

For a new model, she added many of her own ideas and outfits to the shoot. New models when posing in this manner can sometimes get “excited”, but as a professional photographer I knew I needed to make her feel safe and confident about her figure. So when she was posing and moving a portion of her outfit from one position to another, I noticed that she had a “spot”, she noticed it at the same time. Instead of making a big deal about it, I waited for her reaction, she looked embarrassed so I pretended as though I didn’t see anything. She quickly took them off and we continued with no problem. Incidents like these during a shoot can occur more often with new models.
